TRX® Basics

This class is taught by:

Amanda Smith

Amanda Smith is a certified cycling instructor, ACE certified Group Exercise instructor, ACE certified Health Coach, barre certified instructor, certified Pilates instructor and licensed physical therapist. She is originally from Oklahoma. And while she is a true-blooded Sooner fan, she loves routing for the Buckeyes (as long as they are not playing the Sooners). Her goal is to make everyone feel "better than when they walked in".

Amanda started teaching at the age of 18 when the Reebok step aerobics workout was introduced and thong leotards were the "go-to" for all exercise instructors. She has seen the evolution of exercise over her 25 years of experience. And has grown over the years to become a fun, well-rounded instructor with many "tools" in her "tool box" to offer anyone who walks into her classes.


Amanda enjoys fun, fast paced music with energizing intervals in both her cycling and barre classes. One of her favorite parts about teaching ANY class is making all the participants feel better than when they walked in. When you walk into her class, she will "Welcome You to the Best Hour of Your Day!" and do every thing in her power to MEAN IT!

When not teaching, Amanda is kept busy running her own specialized Pilates business. She is also busy running her 3 girls around to ballet, soccer, piano and tennis. She does find the time to hike and go out with her loving husband, Kevin!

Bethany West

Bethany began teaching group exercise classes and became certified with AFAA back in 1998 while living in Chicago. At the time she was pursuing a career in advertising and public relations but grew to discover that her passion for exercise could be taken to another level by motivating and encouraging others. She became a certified Spinning Instructor through Johnny G/ Mad Dogg Athletics and has been teaching for over 13 years. Also, a level 2 certified TRX instructor, Bethany teaches Spinning/TRX classes which has become one of her favorite workouts. “It’s a perfect combination of high intensity cardio, challenging core and strength training bundled into one fast placed class.”
Aside from teaching at PAI, Bethany is the proud mom of four children. “I try to lead by example for my kids. I want them to grow to understand how much exercise improves your quality of life physically and mentally."
Bethany is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing.

Regina Jacinto

Regina Jacinto is a certified TRX instructor. Originally from Cincinnati, she moved to Columbus five years ago. When she’s not teaching TRX, Regina works as a Registered Nurse at Dublin Methodist Hospital, taking care of patients before and after surgery. Sports and competition has been a part of her life since she was young; she swam in her first swim meet at six years old. Even though she never made it as an Olympic swimmer or professional tennis player, she still enjoys staying active.
Being a nurse has also motivated her to stay healthy, since years of lifting and moving patients can place a strain on any individual. Regina hopes to lead by example, showing that hard work and a healthy, active lifestyle is a rewarding one.

Shelly Breehl

Shelly Breehl is a TRX Certified Instructor who started TRX classes at PAI and quickly became obsessed with this amazing workout! Look forward to a challenging class from this very high energy trainer! She loves anything fitness related and rarely turns down a workout.
When not at the gym, she is usually spending time with her family and friends, and probably carpooling her 4 kids around the city.
Do not feel intimated by the look of TRX straps that keep you from these cutting edge workouts! During this class, you will learn the fundamental movement patterns: Plank, Squat, Lunge, Pull, Press, Hinge and Rotation.

Utilizing the TRX suspension trainer and proper modifications given for various fitness levels, you'll quickly realize this powerful and versatile tool is very much "scalable" and not scary. This intro class will quickly prepare you for our more up-tempo classes and keep you engaged and moving more efficiently through the classes and your day-to-day activities!
